Des Voeux Chambers and T&C Law Firm co-organised the event titled “Exploring Jurisdictional Challenges in International Arbitration and Mock Arbitration Hearing” last week (21 September) in Hangzhou. Speakers include Dr William Wong SC, JP, Cherry Xu, Howard Wong, Charlie Liu, and Regina Yip from Des Voeux Chambers, Dr Donna Huang from ICC Arbitration, Shen Tianfeng from Zhejiang Lawyers Association, and Leon Fu, Sen Liu and Dongying Chen from T&C.
In the keynote speech, Cherry and Regina shared their expertise on ‘Strategies and Practices for Jurisdictional Challenges’. The mock arbitration session, based on a recent international arbitration case jointly handled by T&C and DVC, centred on a complex jurisdictional dispute. Cherry, Howard, and Charlie brought the case to life, assuming the roles of arbitrators, claimants, and respondents, respectively. Following the mock arbitration, William provided an in-depth critique of the performances and concluded the event with closing remarks.
Many participants commented that the seminar was highly informative and provided invaluable insights for future arbitration practice.
