Valerie joined Chambers in 2024 after successfully completing pupillage under Ms Maggie Wong SC, Mr Christopher Chain SC, Mr Jason Yu, and Mr Michael Lok.

Valerie is building a broad practice across Chambers’ practice areas, with a focus on civil and commercial matters. She has experience in cases involving commercial, company and insolvency, banking and finance, employment and property law.  She has appeared before the High Court, both for trial and interlocutory application.  Valerie accepts instructions in all areas of work, as sole counsel or part of a team.

Valerie read law at the University of Oxford, fully sponsored by prizes and scholarships (including the D.H. Chen Foundation Scholarship, Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme, and DVC Harry Liu Postgraduate Scholarship). Having graduated with a First Class BA in Jurisprudence, she stayed on to read for the Bachelor of Civil Law, winning the John Morris Prize for the best performance in the Conflict of Laws across the cohort.

During her studies, Valerie represented the University of Oxford at prestigious mooting competitions, winning prizes including Regional Champion of the Price Media Law Moot. She went on to coach the HKU team for an international moot. She has published and presented on topics across commercial law, including at the University of Western Australia’s Private and Commercial Law Conference.
