As one of the leading barristers' chambers in Hong Kong, we see the education and nurturing of our next generations of good pupils and barristers as both our duty and mission. We aim to take on excellent pupils who have the potential to contribute positively to the Hong Kong Bar and our Chambers. Whilst academic excellence is one of the chief criteria that we look for when selecting candidates, we also attach great weight to other equally important attributes, like integrity, advocacy skills and good personal character.
We strive to provide comprehensive and in-depth training and learning opportunities to our pupils, who will have exposure to a wide range of commercial, company, and general civil work, and who will have the opportunity to learn from leading practitioners in the Hong Kong Bar.
Des Voeux Chambers offers two types of pupillage: 9-months pupillage and mini-pupillage. Regarding the former, we now only offer a very limited number of pupillages each year, with our current policy being to admit not more than 4 pupils per year. Offers of 9-months of pupillage are made with a view to potential tenancy as a full member of Chambers. We are committed to equal opportunities, and treat all pupils equally and fairly regardless of age, sex, race, beliefs or physical ability. Assessment of pupils' work is based on entirely merit alone.
Chambers also offers scholarships to suitably qualified candidates.
